We've been going to the Woods for two weekends each summer for the several years. We were most recently there in 2019, and plan to make 2020 reservations on March 7 when reservations open. The facilities are great, and the crowd is pretty friendly. The owners regularly invest in improvements.

The Woods campground is huge with a lot of room to expand. The hiking trails are awesome and you can';t imagine how friendly fellow hikers can be.
Although the place is listed as "big rig friendly," that statement applies to very few locations. Most of these are listed as "pole sites" and they are in the middle of a large treeless field. On holiday weekends when the park is very full, electrical problems arise for those with all-electric coaches. This is not necessarily through any fault of The Woods... they are at the end of a long power line and there is only so much amperage available.
Water pressure can also be an issue for those at the pole locations as there might be four hoses connected to the same supply. There is no sewer connection at these sites.
The swimming pool is large, the activities are varied and you can get as immersed as you like in the events.
To me, the hiking trails are the most fun.
An infusion of capital and subsequent expansion to include better sites for big rigs would make The Woods a real showplace. For now, enjoy what they have.

People are very friendly. This is not a campground for big rigs. There is only 12v electric at site. Bridges before entering camp groud have signs posted "No vehicles over 10 tons". This is not mentioned anywhere prior to arrival. Still its a great campground for those who wish to tent, rent a cabin or have a small rig.

This is a great place for tent campers and those with pop-ups. It's definitely not for anything larger than about 21 ft.

Everyone is friendly and there's a lot of activities. I would go a lot more if I could get my rig in.

I would add: If you have a big rig there are usually not a lot of sites available. Definitely call ahead.

We've been going to Hillside for over 16 years, though less so in recent years, partly due to the fact that there are limited sites available for our rig and we don't always have the luxury of planning way in advance. Last year a mid-week stay was very pleasant and actually, for us, much more relaxing than the weekend party crowd. It is a large property with plenty of hiking, walking and people to meet. Nice pool area. Snack bar.
